High-Tech Harassment

Pretty much anything you can do offline, you can now do online – even high-school bullying. Three Loranger High School students in Louisiana have been arrested for “cyberbullying” after a 15-year-old girl posted photos of another student on her website, called “Loranger’s biggest” In response, the 14-year-old target of the digital taunt built his own site, which included graphically violent poems and a list of students he called “The Preps.” Both students have been arrested, along with 18-year-old Joseph Sanchez, who helped the boy set up and maintain his website. Said a staff person with the attorney general’s office: “When you have students making threats to other students … on the internet, talking about killing someone or blowing up the school … you have to take threats seriously.”
