Docs Prescribe Warning Label on New ABC Show

The series premiere of Eli Stone, a male version of Ally McBeal, begins with controversy as the title character takes the pharmaceutical industry to court. The trial involves a mother who’s convinced a routine vaccine containing a mercury-based preservative caused her son’s autism.

After hearing a backlash from doctors and researchers about the plotline, ABC has agreed to run a disclaimer at the beginning of the show reminding viewers that the show is fictional, along with a clip at the end of the show referring viewers to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention’s website.
