After computer mishaps at Harvard Business School scrambled students’ corporate recruiting sessions, the student newspaper retaliated by running a cartoon of a career services website overloaded with error messages, including one referring to “incompetent morons.” A school official reprimanded two student editors for using disrespectful language. One editor resigned, citing personal intimidation and threats, which ignited a free speech controversy. The MBA chairman said there was no intent to censor the editors. “If it weren’t for those two words, nothing would have been said or done to the students,” he said. Apparently free speech doesn’t apply to two words.
