DrivecongressThe Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers began their first defensive move against higher mileage standards with a $1
million-plus radio and print campaign to convince consumers they are being robbed of “choice” and that the new standards will result in higher costing cars. The AAM represents General Motors, Ford, Daimler Chrysler, BMW, Toyota and other car makers. Its Web site—www.drivecongress.com—offers links to senators Web sites as well as toll-free numbers for representatives.
